Mr. Whitwell has 40 years’ banking experience in executive and leadership roles. Prior to Fieldpoint, he served as a Principal at Patriot Financial Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on strategic investment in commercial banks and related financial services companies. Before joining Patriot, he was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Sterling Bancorp for over a decade. While at Sterling, Mr. Whitwell was responsible for articulating Sterling’s strategy and through leadership of multiple areas of the company re-engineering the transformation of the company from a small community bank into a $30 billion plus high-performing regional bank. The transformation entailed re-building and modernizing virtually all areas of the bank and completing multiple M&A transactions. Prior to joining Sterling, Mr. Whitwell served as a Principal at Mercatus Consulting, CEO of Union Federal Savings Bank and held executive level positions at Key Bank, Unisys Corporation, Ohio Savings Bank and Huntington National Bank.
